Google has announced that it will rename 'G Suite for Education,' which was previously offered as G Suite for educational institutions, to ' Google Workspace for Education .'
The free plan is called 'Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals,' and includes access to services such as Google Classroom, a tool for managing student grades and grading assignments, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Google Slides, and Google Forms, as well as communication tools such as Google Meet and Gmail.
There are three paid plans available: Google Workspace for Education Standard, Google Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Google Workspace for Education Plus. The paid plans offer enhanced security and support, as well as remote management, more advanced Google Meet functionality, advanced audit log output, and originality reporting .

Additionally, the storage policy, which previously allowed unlimited cloud storage capacity, has been changed to a limit of 100TB per domain, in order to ensure fair resource usage.
Google Classroom , a core tool in Google Workspace for Education, will offer expanded features for paid plans, including the ability to directly configure classes with SIS rosters, obtain student audit logs, and visualize student learning progress.

Additionally, Google is promoting the 'enhanced offline functionality of Google Classroom.' Students who don't have a strong internet connection at home will be able to download assignments at school on the day they attend school, complete them at home, and then turn them in the next day.
In addition, it will be possible to send assignments to students simultaneously through Google Classroom for smartphones, and a feature is planned to be included that will allow teachers to easily submit assignments remotely by taking a photo of a notebook or paper assignment with their smartphone camera.
In addition, the online video conferencing tool Google Meet will be adding the following features to increase its usability in educational settings:
- Moderators can now end a conference call and have everyone leave the room, or they can have students leave the room individually.
- Teachers can now mute all participants at once
・Lessons can be conducted and screen sharing can be done directly from smartphones
・Improved integration with Google Classroom enables communication between different school districts
- Improved performance on Chromebooks

Additionally, Google announced that it will incorporate a screen recording tool for Chrome OS in the March 2021 update, allowing teachers to provide direct instruction to students while viewing their screens as they complete their assignments.
Google commented, 'Over the past year, teaching and learning have continued despite unexpected obstacles and unknowns. This is all thanks to the heroic efforts of educators, from teachers and leaders to students and their families. We look forward to working together to reimagine learning and push the boundaries of what's possible so that everyone has access to a high-quality learning experience that's right for them.'
