A business-minded 8-year-old selling sweets at school tells his unenthusiastic friends, 'You're fired.'

At just eight years old, Connor Pickering from

Nuneaton , Warwickshire , already knows that to succeed in business, you sometimes have to be ruthless.

Connor, who runs a snack bar at school during recess, selling homemade cupcakes, calmly dismisses two friends who fail to meet their sales targets by telling them, 'You're fired!' Connor Pickering runs a stall at his school, Stockingford Junior School, selling small cupcakes and cookies for 10 to 20 pence (about 14 to 28 yen) during recess. He earns about 25 pounds (about 3,400 yen) a week during term time, and donates the profits to the local air ambulance service , Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance .

Connor first discussed the idea for the charity stall with his social studies teacher at school, and after getting the go-ahead, he borrowed 15 pounds (about 2,030 yen) from his parents, Gareth (30) and Donna (29), for materials, developed a business plan, named the stall 'C&G Biscuits,' and baked cupcakes.

Connor's father, Gareth, said: 'When Connor started the business he gave us a list of things he needed and we helped with the initial purchases, but from there he ran the business and got the stall going. After a while, even the teachers started buying Connor's cakes.'

Connor wasn't the first to open a school store; there were several rival stores run by other students, but they lost customers to Connor's store and withdrew.

'They didn't sell anything I wanted to eat so I decided to start my own,' says Connor Pickering. 'Other stalls were only making £2 a week but I was able to sell more. I didn't set out to put my rivals out of business, but I guess that's what happened.'

Connor's cupcakes and biscuits are beautifully decorated with icing and sugar candy, making them look appealing and appealing to customers. He's also a big fan of business opportunities, and during the FIFA World Cup he even sold cakes with the England flag on them, which may have set him apart from his rivals.

Connor explained how he ended up firing his two friends: 'We had a disagreement and I told them, 'You're fired.' They weren't working hard enough and weren't selling enough cakes to cover their costs. I couldn't afford to keep them on, so I fired the ones who weren't meeting their sales targets, and now the stall is doing much better. I've made up with them, though.'

Connor, his brother Daniel (age 4) and sister Shannon (age 6) were given a ride in the helicopter when the profits from the stall were donated to Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. Connor said about his future, 'One day I'd like to run my own ice cream van. If it goes well, I'd like to buy several vans and expand my operations. But I'd also like to become a helicopter pilot or crew member in the emergency services.'
