There are many free Linux distributions available.

- Can be run on older PCs
The latest OS can be run on a Pentium 2 if you try hard enough, reducing the cost of hardware investment.

・Most files can be used with OpenOffice
Documentation is required.

・Easy customization of the interface
There are many GUI tools available, including 'Beryl,' which allows for dramatic effects such as burning menus .

・Strong security
It is a Unix system so it has a long history.

Many Windows applications can be run, but most games cannot.
Not being able to play games might be an advantage at school.

Easy to learn
The GUI makes basic operations easy.

・Firefox
You can use FireFox.

- Supported by the open source community.
If you run into any problems, there's a support system.
