Beta versions of 'Windows Vista', 'Longhorn Server' and 'IE7' will be released simultaneously on August 3, 2005

Now, let's proceed with preparations for partitioning and installing another OS. The problem is...whether it works or not...

Microsoft announced to internetnews.com that it plans to release Beta 1 of Longhorn Server and Beta 1 of Internet Explorer 7 on August 3rd. In addition, the β1 version of 'Windows Vista' will be released at the same time. Windows Vista is the next-generation Windows client, formerly known as Longhorn, and Microsoft announced the official name on July 22nd.

So, in fact, to what extent can it be used as a product?

In April, Microsoft demoed an early version of Windows Vista, showing off virtual folders that dynamically collect files matching keywords and other criteria from anywhere on your hard disk.

This feature was originally dependent on WinFS, the new storage model. Sullivan said virtual folders are essentially the results of a query to the underlying data store.

'The development team explored different scenarios for managing data on PCs and found a way to achieve virtual folder functionality without an underlying data store,' he said.

...... It's an extension of existing search technology, but if it's useful, it's good.

Sullivan also detailed the RSS functionality that will be integrated into Windows Vista. 'This is a dramatic evolution of the user model. RSS will become even more important as a means of distribution,' he said.

RSS correspondence is indispensable for anything, for future websites ......

He also expects the beta to be distributed to a wider range of testers than Microsoft's earlier builds.

'In the case of Windows XP, the initial beta was distributed only to select testers. In this case, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft distributed the beta to members of the Developers Network,' he said.

I see. ……Where should I get it from? (faint hope)
